A poffertje by any other name?
Our first morning in San Francisco and time for a hearty, pre-sight-seeing breakfast. We took the advice of Lonely Planet and headed to Sears Fine Food just off Union Square. The 18 Swedish pancakes were great, larger than poffertjes and not quite as fluffy, but an excellent conduit for whipped butter and lashings of syrup. And I finished every last one of them. I didn't need to eat again until 4.30 in the afternoon.
